The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality investigated a July 2 discharge of sewage at Avenue N, between 11th and 12th Streets in Levelland.
In July of 2015, Levelland residents complained of raw sewage on the streets. Officials said at the time that crews worked to clear tree roots and other obstacles from the sewage lines.
In the most recent sewage discharge of 10,000 gallons onto the streets of Levelland, the TCEQ only described the cause as a sewer line blockage. The specific source of the blockage was not disclosed in a July 11 report.
TCEQ said tests were negative for total coliforms and E.Coli.
“A complaint investigation is in progress,” TCEQ said.

On Saturday July 2, 2016, TCEQ Lubbock Regional Office received a complainant concerning a discharge of sewage at Avenue N, between 11th and 12th Streets in Levelland, Texas.
Notification of the discharge was submitted by the City indicating approximately 10,000 gallons of sewage overflowed. The cause was reported as a sewer line blockage. The City responded to the overflow and jetted the lines to remove the blockage. The City used a dirt berm and a vacuum truck to contain and remove standing wastewater, used HTH to disinfect the area and used deodorizer to help with the odor. The area was also barricaded and attended to keep humans and animals out.
A final report was received on July 11, 2016 showing that samples collected from the cleanup area were negative for total coliforms and E.Coli. A complaint investigation is in progress.
