#23 Texas Tech fell for just the third time this season, versus New Mexico State, 7-6.
The Aggies jumped all over the Red Raiders in the first inning, plating three quick runs.
Tech would respond with a five-run third inning to take control until NMSU struck again in the fifth inning with three more for their cause.
The Red Raiders wouldn’t see the lead again, coming as close as down one run in the bottom of the seventh with a runner on third(Tyler Neslony struck out looking).
Erikson Lanning would give up five earned runs in four innings in his second career start for Tech, but Robert Dugger and Parker Mushinski would only allow one earned run from that point on in the ball game.
Eric Gutierrez and Cory Raley would each have two hits to lead Tech batters.
Tech will take on NMSU on Wednesday at 2pm at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.
