Texas Tech(13-7) kept pace with, then passed up New Mexico in the runs column, to get past New Mexico(13-7), 14-10, notching their fifth win in the last six games.

While it was a productive day in the batters box, Tim Tadlock’s team left seven on base after 15 total hits on the day.

Tech had previously lost the last three meetings with the Lobos.

Ty Damron allowed four earned runs on three hits in 2 1/3 innings. The lefty also registered just one strikeout and two walks.

Ryan Shetter(2-0) came in to shut down the scoring against UNM and claim the win, giving up no runs on two hits in 3 1/3 innings.

Zach Davis stole four bases, with three hits, one walk and four runs scored.

Stephen Smith had four hits in five at bats, his second four-hit day in as many games.

Tanner Gardner, the Big 12 Player of the Week, raised his batting average from .467 to .471 with his two-for-four performance at the dish.

The Red Raiders will now take on Oklahoma, a Thursday-Saturday series as part of their Big 12 home opening series.
