The Texas Tech University STEM Center for Outreach, Research and Education and the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Lubbock Betty Anderson Branch hosted the Tech Savvy Conference Saturday.

The science, technology, engineering and math-focused workshop was targeted for girls in the sixth through ninth grade and their parents.

The coference was designed to help young girls discover realistic STEM careers and pathways to education while equipping parents to encourage and reinforce the process.

Texas Tech alumna Ginger Kerrick, a NASA flight director for the International Space Station, was the keynote speaker for the workshop.

Each participant was asked to select three workshop sessions and one savvy skills session to attend.
