Apple wants buyers to know that there is a company selling fake Apple products on Amazon. Apple investigated the products that were being made and sold by Mobile Star, a company based out New Jersey.
Apple claims that Mobile Star was printing Apple logos on the cables and chargers that were being sold on Amazon.
Not only were they fake products but according to Apple they also “pose a significant risk of overheating, fire and electrical shock”. And customer reviews backed Apple’s claims, saying some of the equipment was catching on fire.
Any product from Apple says “designed by Apple in California.” Apple has filed a lawsuit against Mobile Star.
These fake chargers aren’t the only thing catching on fire. Some lithium ion batteries pose a big threat. “HotStop” is a solution to that issue that has banned certain phones on airplanes. This a fire resistant bag made by a company in Texas.
The bag comes with fireproof gloves thus allowing you to slide the device in the bag to contain the fire.
Thomas Connolly says the bag is made up of several heat resistant material, that can withstand temperature up to 3200 degrees.
Many airlines are looking into getting the HotStop as ‘inflight service’ to reduce fires started by lithium batteries.
