Texas Tech senior forward Janine Beckie notched her first two-goal game of her International career Saturday night in a win for her Canadian National team over Ecuador, 5-2.
It was Beckie’s sixth appearance with the Canadian Women’s National Team in her career.
Later in the match, Canada faced having to replace its goalkeeper after Stephanie Labbe was dealt a red card in the second half. Beckie, surprisingly, filled in for the goalie due to a thin roster.
Beckie actually gave up the next free kick in the only defended shot-on-goal for her, but Canada prevailed in the end with a three-goal margin.
Canada will now face Costa Rica on Wednesday, July 15th in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
