A teenager was struck and killed by a vehicle Sunday afternoon while walking in Jacksboro.
The accident occurd in the 2100 block of Main Street around 3:30 p.m.
Authorities said the student was walking down the shoulder of the roadway when a car veered off the road and struck her.
Jacksboro Chief of Police, Terry McDaniel, said the driver stated he had fallen asleep at the wheel.
McDaniel also said that although school is out for Thanksgiving break, the Jacksboro Middle School gym will be open Monday. Grief counselors will be present for any student or adult.
The name of the 15-year-old killed or driver have been released.
The accident remains under investigation.
