Johnny Garcia, 35, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive and Texas Mexican Mafia gang member, is now in custody after being captured Friday in San Antonio. Garcia was wanted for parole violation and kidnapping. The arrest was not the result of tip information received through Texas Crime Stoppers, and no reward will be paid.
Working off investigative information, members of the U.S. Marshals Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force – assisted by officers from the San Antonio Police Department Repeat Offenders Program – located and arrested Garcia without incident at a residence in south San Antonio.
Garcia’s criminal history includes convictions for assault, weapons offenses and drugs. In 2009, Garcia also was convicted of assaulting a public servant (corrections officer) while he was incarcerated in 2006. He was paroled in 2014, and had been wanted since April of this year. For more information about his arrest, see his captured bulletin at: www.dps.texas.gov/Texas10MostWanted/fugitiveDetails.aspx?id=332.
So far in 2016, DPS and other agencies have arrested 12 Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives and Sex Offenders, including seven sex offenders and five gang members, and $18,500 in rewards have been paid for tips that resulted in arrests.
