Dan Patrick, Texas Lieutenant Governor and Trump Texas Campaign Chairman issued the following statement on the projected election of Donald J. Trump.
“This is a great night for our country and a great night for Texas. It is a new day in America. Change is finally coming to Washington. The voices of voters who have been ignored by the Washington establishment, the Democrat establishment and the media establishment, finally were heard loud and clear.
“What we are seeing tonight is what I saw campaigning with Trump – that he understands a lot about the heart and soul of America. The Democrats and Hillary obviously haven’t got a clue.
“Texans will now have a good friend in the White House who will be our partner in securing the border. We’ll have a good friend in the White House who won’t fight our energy industry and will put us on the road to energy independence. We have a good friend in the White House who will support school choice for every child, who will stand up for life, for liberty and the Second Amendment. And for the first time since 2008, we won’t have a White House that we have to constantly sue to protect the rights of Texans.
“Trump had a great victory in Texas. Once again, we saw that despite the usual Democrats’ brash talk, they are not going to turn Texas blue — they are not even going to turn it purple.
“Texas stands as a beacon for the nation reflecting the very best of what America can be.”
