The Texas Tech Baseball team faced a devastating 7 to 5 loss to Costal Carolina University. Although the Red Raiders will head home from the NCAA College World Series, they have put the university and the city of Lubbock on the map.
Beth Bridges, the Chairwoman of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, said hosting events like the Super Regionals at this level certainly brings people in from out of town.
“It absolutely helps elevate business around the community, around the West Texas area as well. What’s good for Texas Tech is certainly good for Lubbock, Texas,” Bridges said.
The Texas Tech Baseball exposure has businesses booming. It also opened the door for Lubbock and the recruiting process for all athletic programs.
“I think on the radio last night they said that we had 22 guys get drafted, which is a record. A lot of people are saying that this might be the best season of Tech Baseball ever,” Texas Tech student Caleb Woodward said.
The city will reap the benefits of their success and opportunities from hosting the Regionals, something Red Raider fans are grateful for and has them excited for the future.
“I think what it means for the City and Texas Tech is that when you have this level of success you can absolutely build on it,” Bridges said.
