Texas Tech’s first year bat boy Crosby Carmichael has been along for the ride every step of the way this season. But on Tech’s final pit stop of the year, 800 miles away from Lubbock in Omaha, Crosby’s father Britt wasn’t sure if they would be able to tag along. That’s until Red Raider Nation stepped in.

“To have my son be able to come to Omaha, and be able to experience everything, you know, it’s really cool,” Britt Carmichael said.

First Bank & Trust in Lubbock created a funding account in Crosby’s name to help get him to Nebraska, and the response from Texas Tech alumni was phenomenal.

“I mean, I was at work, and all of the sudden I got a call about them wanting to interview Crosby, and I said, yeah no problem. I got there and then next thing I know, people are saying that they want to raise funds to be with Crosby,” Britt Carmichael said.

“It was awesome, because no other boy can do that,” Crosby Carmichael said.

So the journey for the eight-year-old continued, making his way to the Cornhusker state, not only with his role models, but also his best friends.

“They’ve taken him in and to see Crosby walking around with them, and they are picking him up and hugging him and doing handshakes, and the coaches are doing the same thing – and I’m like holy smokes man,” Britt Carmichael said.

Plus, nothing could replace the feeling he had when stepping into TD Ameritrade Ballpark for the first time.

“I was like this is my day. This is going to be my goal,” Crosby Carmichael said.

“I told him, you take everything you can, because I said this is not just something that you just do,” Britt Carmichael said.

The remaining funds in the account, were asked by Crosby himself to be given to less fortunate kids who can’t afford to attend Texas Tech baseball camps.

Maybe some good karma from paying it forward?

When visiting old Rosenblatt stadium earlier this week, Crosby and his father Britt ran into the legendary LSU baseball coach Skip Bertman.

Just never know who you will run into in this amazing baseball town.
