Beth Bridges, the Chairwoman for the Chamber of Commerce, said football creates an exciting rush in the community,

“Texas Tech, in addition to of course being Texas Tech, creates such an impact on our local economy and community- not only from the students coming back but also from the football games, basketball, and baseball it creates a huge positive impact on our economy,” Bridges said.

She added hotels are booking up for the upcoming fall and businesses have been preparing since July.

Katie Dickey, the Head Buyer for Red Raider Outfitters, said the store has already seen a massive increase and they are ahead of sales.

“I think it has to be so great for everybody just because it brings so many visitors to the city of Lubbock and over all it just really increases the morale and excitement around town,” Dickey said.

Dickey added all of this can be an indicator of a big season around the corner.
