Texas Tech University wants to remind anyone going to the first football game on Saturday, September 3 of their new policies and changes to Jones AT&T Stadium.

Some argue the biggest change is their clear bag policy.

Starting two weeks ago at the Tech women’s soccer game, the University began this policy that will require any person planning on bringing their belongings into a Tech game will have to use a clear bag.

“One gallon zip-lock bag if you want but just no bags that aren’t clear can come into any of our venues from now on,” Texas Tech Senior Associate Athletics Director Robert Giovannetti said.

Season ticket holders and Red Raider Club members were given a free bag. The same bag can be found at local stores for about $4. The maximum clear bag you can bring in are twelve by six inch bags.

“Clearly if you have something in your bag it’ll be easier to see but also to move the lines quicker through instead of every bag having to be searched,” Giovannetti said.

However, you are able to bring in a small clutch that will also be checked.

Giovannetti added every Tech employee, including bus drivers and parking attendants, will be looking for these as people enter the stadium.

“If they slip through all of that and get to the game we’ll just ask them to return to the vehicle and take their bag back to the vehicle,” Giovannetti said.

He added medical bags will be allowed into a Tech game after they are also checked.

“We’re sorry if it inconveniences someone but we’re not sorry to enhance the safety here at the stadium,” Giovannetti said.

Other changes are coming to the stadium’s video board.

“It’ll have more graphics on the big screen throughout the game, so when Patrick Mahomes is coming to the line of scrimmage you’ll always see his statistics, after a big play by a certain player we’ll have the statistics up there. We’re trying to give it more of a at home experience here at the stadium,” Giovannetti said.

New NCAA rules will allow Tech to show replay footage of controversial plays as it’s being judged.

“From every angle the replay official is looking at it and if he is slowing it down to look at a specific aspect of it you’ll be able to see that here in the stadium,” Giovannetti said.

Lastly, a new announcement they made today about a mobile app that will allow a person to buy or adjust their seat to any Tech game. It’s called the “Texas Tech Pass.”

“It’ll allow you to upgrade your seat if you want. You can go look and say hey there’s a seat available in this section, you can press a button and a ticket will be brought to your phone,” Giovannetti said.

Giovannetti added you have to be signed up for this pass through their website at TexasTech.com
