Texas Tech Student Government Association, Tech College Republicans, and Tech Student Democrats will host a Congressional Debate at the Mckenzie-Merket Alumni Center on May 9th at 7pm.

The debate will take place between Glen Robertson and Jodey Arrington. The event will be open to the public and media and will be moderated by radio talk show host Chad Hasty.

Robertson and Arrington are both candidates for Texas’s nineteenth U.S. representative seat that was left open when incumbent Randy Neugebauer announced his retirement.

“We look forward to having a lively debate between the two candidates,” Steven Shedd, Director of External Affairs for College Republicans said. “Hopefully students from the university, and residents from the surrounding area will get the opportunity to attend.”

The event is planned to last the hour, with the first 40 minutes of questions coming from Hasty and the second 20 minutes coming from the audience.

“Student Government is proud to host this debate between Glen Robertson and Jodey Arrington. This seat has important implications for the future of Texas Tech,” Amber Yanez, the Internal Vice President of SGA said. “And we are elated to give students the opportunity to become more educated on the candidates.”
