According to gosanangelo.com and other media outlets, Texas Tech student Evan Wilson, 23, was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years of deferred adjudication for a deadly drunken driving crash last year.

That means if he stays out of trouble for 10 years the charge will no longer be on his record.

Wilson was driving a pickup truck on U.S. Highway 67 in Tom Green County when it struck a Honda Civic driven by Brooke Abney, 35. She died. Her two-year-old son, James Abney, was in the car and survived.

Gosanangelo.com reported that Wilson is both a student and he works for the Hospitality Services Department at Texas Tech as a videographer. Online information was consistent with that report.
