The Buddy Holly Center is hosting Natura naturans, a collection of landscape photographs by Melany Sarafis. A 24 year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Sarafis turned to photography, specifically astrolandscape (night sky) photography, as a way of countering a stressful military career.
Her photographs are inspired by nature, geology and history. She feels a connection with the land and the people who were there long before modern times. She seeks to explore how the landscape was shaped, the history of cultures that came before and of animals that once roamed these lands, but no longer exist.
Natura naturans will be on display through August 14th in the Foyer Gallery.
