In the wake of yesterday’s freezing weather, The Salvation Army of Lubbock deployed the Survive the Night program emergency disaster vehicle to search for homeless individuals in Lubbock. The team found 17 men and 9 women out in the 22 degree weather. Each person found was offered the opportunity to seek warmth at The Salvation Army of Lubbock Emergency Housing Shelter .Individuals found were also offered hot coffee, hot chocolate, Meals Ready to Eat (MRE’s), gloves, hats, and blankets to help them stave off the sub-freezing temps.

Due to today’s snow and frigid temperatures, the Survive the Night program will once again be in search of individuals after 6pm. Because of the high number of people being served, The Salvation Army is requesting donations for warm socks and heavy winter gloves. These items have the potential to save homeless individuals from frost bite, hypothermia, and more during cold nights. All donations can be brought to The Salvation Army at 1111 16th Street.
