As part of United Supermarkets’ 100th anniversary, The United Family donated and delivered stuffed animals to two children’s hospitals in Lubbock. These donations conclude a year-long celebration throughout West Texas, Dallas-Fort Worth and Eastern New Mexico that focused on giving back to the community, saying thank you to team members and customers, and promoting the company’s future.
The donation of 1,200 special edition 100th anniversary stuffed animals to UMC Children’s Hospital and Covenant Children’s Hospital are the first in a series of donations to hospitals in all 12 of the greater communities The United Family serves.
“This anniversary year was all about giving back and showing support and appreciation to the communities that have been faithful to this company for the past century,” said Mary Myers, communications and community relations manager for The United Family. “We are honored to serve these local children’s hospitals and hope the stuffed animals will bring a smile to many faces.”
The yearlong anniversary celebration included several programs and initiatives designed to express appreciation for the many communities and guests who have been loyal and supportive of the company throughout the years. The first initiative kicked off in January with a $100,000 pledge to local schools. In April, 140,000 pounds of apples were donated to area food banks, with a subsequent donation in June of 100,000 pounds of food. Throughout the summer, the company donated $1,000 to a local charity in different cities for 100 consecutive days.
