The Museum of Texas Tech Association will host the third annual Art on the Llano Estacado Show and Sale April 30 and May 1.

The exclusive ticketed event opens at 6 p.m. April 30th in the Museum of Texas Tech University Helen Devitt Jones Sculpture Court. Art on the Llano Estacado is a fundraiser to support the Museum. This event will feature a cocktail party, buffet and intent to purchase art sale.

The event will feature about 200 original works of art by 41 artists from across the southwest representing a wide variety of styles and media.

James Watkins, internationally known ceramic artist will receive this year’s Legacy Award recognizing his life-time achievement as an artist. Glenna Goodacre received the inaugural Legacy Award with Paul Milosevich honored last year.

Watkins, has been working professionally with clay for more than 30years. His work is included in the White House Collection of American Crafts and the Shigaraki Institute of Ceramic Studies in Shigaraki, Japan. Watkins is a Paul Whitfield Horn Professor, the highest honor that Texas Tech awards to faculty members. He teaches architectural ceramics and architectural drawing in Texas Tech’s College of Architecture and has earned the Texas Tech President’s Excellence in Teaching Award.

The April 30 reception will feature a chance to meet the artists, first chance to buy works of art, cocktails, a buffet dinner and entertainment by the Ellsworth Quartet. During the reception a portrait sitting by artist Paul Milosevich will be offered during a silent auction. Tickets for the reception are $150 and can be obtained by contacting the Museum of Texas Tech University Association at (806) 742-2443.

Any unsold art will be available for purchase on a first-come, first-served basis during a free public exhibition and art sale on May 1.
