No charges will be filed against three Amarillo police officers involved in a deadly shooting last month.

Officers were called to the 800 block of South Travis Street for a suicidal subject.

Police said Mark Ramirez, 31, opened the door to a residence and had a gun in hand.  Police said he began to follow an officer with the weapon.

Two of the officers shot Ramirez who later died in a hospital.

District Attorney Randall Sims said, “The officers did all they could do, but it’s clear from this man’s intentions that he wanted to die that day, and he didn’t give them any other choice but to do that.”

Sims said one of the officers did not fire shots and was more of a witness.

The officers involved have been on administrative leave since the incident.
