The Texas Department of Public Safety reported Friday evening that an adult and two children were struck by a vehicle in West Lubbock Thursday evening.

The accident occurred at Farm-to-Market Road 179 and County Road 6520 around 9:30 p.m.

Authorities said a Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling eastbound on County Road 6520 when it struck the three pedestrians.

All three accident victims were taken by ambulance to Covenant Medical Center.

The driver of the pickup was not injured.

The DPS identified one of the accident victims Saturday as Luz Montoya, 43. Authorities said the two children hurt in the accident, a 9-year-old and 6-year-old, are her grandchildren.

A spokesman for Covenant Medical Center confirmed to EverythingLubbock.com Saturday afternoon that Montoya had died from her injuries. The two children were still in listed in critical condition.

The driver of the truck, identified as Robert Yeager, was not injured, authorities said. 

The DPS  said they are still investigating the accident.
