The Texas Department of Public Safety said a train derailed Monday morning in Culberson County near the community of Kent.
The accident occurred just before 8:00 a.m. near mile market 178, adjacent to Interstate 10, approximately 40 miles east of Van Horn.
A DPS spokesman told our El Paso sister station, KTSM-TV, there were no reports of injuries.
A hazmat team was sent to the scene to contain a butane leak from one of the rail cars.
Interstate 10 was closed in the area near the accident and traffic was diverted for a time.
The derailment is east of the Interstate 10 and Interstate 20 split.
