Altitude Trampoline Park held it’s grand opening, Friday, on Milwaukee Avenue. All three owners share medical backgrounds, so they hope to make this more than just a profitable business.
“You know we have such a problem with obesity now, childhood obesity adult obesity,” said co-owner Kelli Howard. “And just get out and get moving. Let’s start getting some of those pounds off and getting healthier.”
For city councilwoman Karen Gibson, she knows that due to some changes in the local school districts, Altitude can not only help gets kids away from video games, but can give adults a different exercise to stay active.
“It gets kids moving again,” said Gibson. “Gets everybody moving. They’ve taken recess away they’ve taken playtime away out of the school districts, and this will get kids moving again. It gets adults moving again. I think it’ll be fun. You know, it’s really funny because people will maybe not go work out, but they’ll go on a trampoline and they’ll jump for hours and play. Because it’s more playtime.”
For parents like Shambree Givens, a place like Altitude can really be beneficial to getting their kids out of the house
“I’m a college studen,” said Givens. “So having a two year old and going to school, getting energy out and being able to play and do other things is very important and for a two year old, having different sort of things to do definitely keeps them entertained.”
