The Science Spectrum stopped by to show us a fun activity for the kids on a rainy day: straw rockets.

To make the straw rockets you’ll just need a few supplies that you might have laying around at home: scissors, markers or crayons, two different sized straws, tape and the template for a rocket ship. You can print a template out online or make your own.

The first step in creating the straw rockets is to print out the templates and color them, or create your own. Attach a section of the larger straw to the back of the rocket, and make sure to tape one end of the straw shut completely.

Then, slide the thinner straw  in and launch with a big exhale. You can have the kids try launching from different angles to see the flight path and distance change.
