As the summer heat rages on, Matt Rose from LP&L gave us some tips on how to take control of your electric bill to keep it under control.
First, make sure you are changing out your air filters on a regular basis. LP&L suggests using a high quality filter that will last longer, but if you don’t want to spend as much on the filters, make sure you are changing them around once a month.
Next, invest in a programmable thermostat. Adjust the thermostat to be eight to ten degrees higher when you aren’t in the house to save money. But whatever you do, don’t turn off the air conditioning until all together.
Lastly, don’t forget to make use of your blinds. Keep them closed during the day when you’re not home to avoid sunlight heating up your house.
