Cold and flu season hit several schools around town hard, and Trinity Elementary decided to do something about it.

After cancelling classes on Thursday and Friday in order to give students and teachers a chance to get well, the kiddos will be back to the books Monday.

“Being a small Christian school like we are, we kind of have the ability to just take a step back and say you know what, we need to let everybody get better and so that’s what we did,” Trinity R.N. Rachel Roberson said.

Trinity Mom Chrissy Haralson said she couldn’t have been more relieved when she heard the administration’s solution to the sickness problem.

“I don’t think sick kids need to be at school, it just spreads so fast, especially the little ones. I know they’ve set up a lot of hand-sanitizing stations, and they’ve cleaned the school, and you know, trying to stay on top of all of that,” Haralson said, “So I think if your kids are sick, please leave them at home, that is the best thing to do.”

The school was germ-blasted over the weekend, and Roberson is doing her best to make sure the students stay healthy when they do get back to class on Monday.

“We’re going to talk to the kids about good hand-washing, we will have hand-sanitizing stations for them, we’ll give them extra time to wash good soap and water. And then we’re also going to talk to them about covering their coughs,” Roberson said.

So far, Roberson said the plan was working.

“I’ve heard from several of our parents, it looks like people are on the mend and we’re going to come back on Monday and get back at it.”
