Emergency crews including Lubbock’s Heavy Rescue responded to the scene of a truck into a south Lubbock home just before 11pm Wednesday night. A grey Nissan pickup truck hit a car then crashed through the front of the home at 2515 93rd Street. Four people in the car were taken to Covenant with minor injuries.
Four people were in a bedroom in the home when the truck hit the home. A man, woman and 9 month old child were trapped under debris. The force of the crash sent a four year old child into another bedroom in the home. The two adults were seriously injured. All four were transported to UMC.
Lubbock Police tell us the driver of the truck faces intoxication assault charges.
Police closed off portions of University near the home to traffic while crews worked the scene. Lubbock police continue to investigate.
Lubbock Police issued the following statement Thursday morning:
At approximately 10:50 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, patrol officers responded to a crash with a house in the 9200 block of University Ave. Officers learned that a grey 2012 Nissan Frontier pickup had been southbound on University Ave. and rear-ended a white 2008 Ford 500 passenger car in the 9200 block of University Ave. The Nissan then veered to the east and collided with the house at 2415 93rd. The Ford 500 was occupied by the driver and three passengers. The home was occupied by a family of four. Two of the people inside the home received serious injuries while the other two received minor injuries. All four were transported to UMC. All the occupants of the Ford 500 were transported to Covenant with minor injuries.
The driver of the Nissan Frontier also received injuries. He was transported to UMC where he was treated and released. He was then arrested and transported to the Lubbock County Detention Facility and booked in.
