During their meeting this morning [Thursday], the Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees hired Andrew Babcock to fill the position of Assistant Director of Fine Arts. Babcock currently serves as the Director of Bands at Lubbock Christian University and will join Lubbock ISD prior to the beginning of the 2015-2016 school year.

In addition to serving as the director of a collegiate music education program, Babcock also has experience as a high school and middle school band director, including service in Lubbock ISD at Cavazos Middle School from 2008-2009.

According to Dr. Christopher Anderson, LISD Director of Fine Arts, “We are excited to welcome Andrew Babcock to Lubbock ISD. Andrew brings a wealth of knowledge and administrative experience in operations and development. He has wide experience working with multiple branches of fine arts and has demonstrated that he is engaged in our community, having great relationships with community partners. Andrew has been proven to be a team-oriented leader with a clear dedication to the education of children. We are proud to welcome him to the team and look forward to a very exciting future in the Department of Fine Arts at Lubbock ISD.”

Babcock earned his Master of Music Education from Texas Tech University in May of 2010 and his Bachelor of Music Education from Abilene Christian University in December of 2000.
