WHAT:
The Texas Tech Formula Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) is hosting its annual car show fundraiser.

WHEN:
10 a.m. Saturday (April 15)

WHERE:
Commuter West parking lot C16, west of United Supermarkets Arena

EVENT:
Each year, the Formula SAE team hosts a car show featuring nearly 50 cars. The proceeds of the event go toward travel expenses for their international competition in Michigan and finishing up their team car.

There are nine classes of vehicles at the car show, including classic cars, muscle cars, trucks and motorcycles. Participants and spectators can vote on their favorite cars in the show. Trophies will be given to the top two cars in each class. Best in Show will be awarded to the car with the highest popularity overall among voters.

The Formula SAE team will show off its 2016 team car as well as its 2017 team car. The team car was built from scratch by the Formula SAE team with the help of many sponsors, including the Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering, the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Transportation and Parking Services.

The event is free and open to the public. There is no formal registration for participants. There is a $15 fee for each entry, which will be collected at the event. For more information on the car show, visit the Formula SAE Facebook page.
