Two Abilene men were arrested after Abilene Police found weapons and methamphetamine inside a vehicle near a three-month-old baby.
Jose Renteria, 24, and Richard Renteria, 23, were both taken into custody after officers responded to an “armed subject” call on the 100 block of Ross Street Wednesday afternoon.
Jose’s arrest report says he was, “found in possession of a firearm that was displayed in a manner alarm[ing] to the public.”
He was also, “seen running towards a vehicle with the firearm where a three-month-old baby was located”, according to the report.
Another firearm was found inside the vehicle and 8.74 grams of meth was recovered. The report says Jose admitted to possessing the meth.
Richard’s arrest report provides more information about the incident. It says he was driving the car when police conducted the stop. He allowed officers to search his person, which enabled them to recover the meth.
The report claims the second firearm was found in Richard’s three-month-old son’s baby bag.
Both men were charged with Manufacturing/Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Endangering a Child. Jose was also charged with Disorderly Conduct, and Richard is facing a Felon in Possession of a Firearm charge.
