On July 1st, 2015, a Tractor/Trailer was driving northbound in the 600 block of N Lakeside Dr. A green 2001 Subaru Outback was traveling westbound from a stop sign on the East Frontal Road of N Lakeside Dr. The driver of the Subaru failed to yield right of way from the stop sign. The Tractor/Trailer struck the driver’s side of the Subaru and the driver of the Subaru died at the scene. The family of the deceased has been notified. This fatal collision remains under investigation by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Department.
On July 1st, 2015 at approximately 9:33 PM a 1993 Honda Motorcycle was traveling southbound in the 1300 block of S Ross St. A Maroon 1997 Honda Accord was traveling northbound in the 1400 block of S Ross St turning left onto SE 14th Ave. The motorcycle struck the right front quarter panel of the Honda Accord. The rider of the motorcycle was thrown from the motorcycle. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet had died at the scene. The deceased is identified as Steven Ray Howard W/M 22 of Amarillo. Next of kin has been notified. The female driver of the Honda Accord is identified as Misti Dawn O’Brien W/F 31 of Amarillo. O’Brien and the passengers in the vehicle were uninjured. Investigation into the collision indicated that O’Brien was driving under the influence of a narcotic. O’Brien was transported and booked into the Potter County Detention Center on a charge of Intoxication Manslaughter. The fatal collision remains under investigation by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Department.
