Two Lubbock Firemen are fundraising for something near and dear to their hearts in their own time.  Adrian Barajas and Kris Kelly are going to Seattle in a week to do the 25th Annual Scott Firefighter Stair Climb which includes climbing 69 flights of stairs.

They are raising money for cancer research for children.  Barajas has a personal tie to this cause as he lost his best friend to leukemia in 2011 and then his sister in law was diagnosed with the cancer and is thankfully now in remission.

At the Lubbock Fire Training Center their tower is only 6 flights high so they train by doing the tower 12 times…Terri decided she wanted to see how hard it would be to walk the stairs in the bunker gear…60 extra pounds later along with an oxygen mask and helmet they go up all six floors.  It’s a lot heavier than you think it will be and adjusting to the oxygen is different.

Kelly and Barajas are still fundraising but they have used their own personal funds to make the trip and to do the stair climb so they are hoping the public will help them raise more money for the cause…
