The Texas Department of Public Safety reported Tuesday that one person was killed following a two vehicle accident in Hale County late Monday evening.
The accident occurred 7 miles north of Hale Center on Interstate 27 at 10:53 p.m.
The DPS said a Cadillac CT was traveling southbound on the interstate and hydroplaned. The vehicle skidded into the northbound lanes of the interstate and into the path of a Chevrolet Cavalier.
The driver of the CT died at the accident scene and was been identified as Fernando Juares, 43, of Lubbock.
The driver of the Cavalier refused treatment at the accident scene and was identified as Eli Gonzales, 22, of Plainview.
A passenger in the Cavalier was transported to University Medical Center in Lubbock with unknown injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
