The Harlingen Police Department continues to investigate a fatal crash accident that occurred over the weekend involving a Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputy.
The accident occurred at the intersection of North Business U.S Highway 77 and Loop 499. According to the report, Deputy Miguel Barajas’s patrol unit was stopped at a red light when a Jeep SUV driven by 64 year-old Rhonda Taylor Dillon struck from the back causing severe damage to both their vehicles.
Dillon was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. As for Deputy Barajas, he is recovering from minor head injuries.
