LUBBOCK, TX (PRESS RELEASE) — Due to forecasted rain later this week, the eastbound US 62/82 Marsha Sharp Freeway (MSF) bridge deck work, at Milwaukee Avenue, originally planned for overnight Wednesday (May 27-28))/Thursday morning has been rescheduled for overnight next Monday night (June 1-2) and Tuesday morning.

Concrete work to pour the westbound MSF bridge deck has also been scheduled for next Thursday night (June 4-5) and Friday morning. North- and southbound Milwaukee Avenue will be closed to traffic beginning at 9 p.m., both nights, with the work completed and roadway reopened to traffic by 6 a.m., the following morning.
Northbound Milwaukee traffic will detoured east to Loop 289 where drivers can use the turnarounds to return to Milwaukee to continue north. Southbound Milwaukee will be detoured west on US 62/82 to Upland Avenue.

The MSF main lanes will be reduced to one lane of travel when crews are working on the respective bridges and both east- and westbound MSF traffic will not be allowed to turn left onto Milwaukee and pass under the bridges during the operations.

The Milwaukee Avenue closures will give contractor Haydon Construction the space needed to pour the new MSF bridge decks and stage equipment for the operation.

Work will take place weather permitting.
