The United Family joined in to support the annual March of Dimes March for Babies movement across the company trade area. The United Family®, which operates United Supermarkets, Market Street and Amigos in Lubbock, is pleased to announce that $102,258 was collected during a two-week earning period. The $24,745 that Lubbock area guests contributed will be distributed by March of Dimes to the Lubbock area for local programs.
Each spring, all Lubbock area stores offer guests the opportunity to contribute to an annual fundraising campaign by adding a donation of $1 or more at checkout. The in-store promotion raises money for local non-profits throughout the community.
“We cherish our partnership with the March of Dimes, an organization whose mission has touched the lives of so many of our guests and team members,” said Mary Myers, manager of communications for The United Family. “Our involvement is much more than collecting donations; we are passionate about raising awareness of the March of Dimes’ tireless efforts to help more moms have healthy pregnancies. Healthy babies mean happy families, and happy families mean strong communities.”
United Supermarkets was a Signature sponsor of the Lubbock March for Babies, held Saturday, April 22, at Texas Tech University. Participants worked towards a goal of raising $275,000 for March of Dimes – Lubbock Division.
The March of Dimes is leading the charge in the United States in funding research and education to combat the rising incidence of premature birth. All babies, whether they‘re born early or right on time, benefit from advances in prenatal and postpartum care made possible by the March of Dimes.
