Pheasant Ridge Winery was founded in 1982 by Bobby Cox. The grapes are grown on the property, hand picked and aged to perfection. This is called an estate winery because everything is grown and picked from the property. They do not bring in grapes from anywhere else.
Not only are the wines delicious, they are also award winning. Their wines beat out other wines from California in the San Francisco wine competition. Cox says the climate of the South Plains is idea for growing grapes.
“Lubbock is a really great place to grow grapes. There’s a lot of different factors that can contribute to that. The altitude, the quality of the light, the wind also causes some positive effect as far as the grapes are concerned,” Cox said.
Another unique aspect about Pheasant Ridge is that this winery is actually pet friendly. Pheasant Ridge offers a wine club and can ship wines anywhere in the state of Texas.
