Update: Former Local Teacher Pleads Not Guilty To Child Pornography Charges

A former West Texas area teacher was arraigned in Lubbock Federal Court Wednesday morning on a felony charge for child pornography.

Kandi F. Phillips, 30, pleaded not guilty to one count of Receipt of a Visual Depiction of a Minor and Engaging in Sexually Explicit Conduct with an underage boy.

Court records showed Phillips’ conditions of release included the defendant not allowed any unsupervised contact with a child under 18 years old and she can not loiter near school yards, playgrounds, swimming pools, arcades, or any other places frequented by children. 

Phillips is also not allowed to use a computer without permission of a pretrial officer, as well as, forfeiting her own or owning another device that allows internet access that is not authorized by the U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services Office. 

Phillips’ trail date was tentatively set to June 5 at 9:00 a.m. in the U.S. Courthouse.
