Lubbock Fire Rescue, along with the Texas A&M Forest Service, will be conducting controlled burns inside the city starting Thursday afternoon.
The controlled burns will take place at the Meadowbrook Golf Course and along the canyon lakes.
Crews will be burning off cattails clogging the waterways.
The controlled burns were originally scheduled to begin on Tuesday but were postponed due to wet conditions.
