The Lubbock Police Department reported Sunday an arrest has been made in connection to a hit-and-run accident that occurred Saturday afternoon.
Raul Elizondo, 39, was arrested early Sunday morning. He’s charged with failure to stop and render aid according to Lubbock County Detention Center records. Elizondo may also face additional charges.
The hit-and-run accident occurred in the 5700 block of Vicksburg Avenue Saturday afternoon around 1:30 p.m.
Lubbock Police said two juveniles were fighting in the middle of the street. There was also a crowd of onlookers observing the fight.
A white SUV driving down Vicksburg Avenue then struck one the involved parties. The vehicle then left the scene.
The victim, identified as Christopher Garcia, 29, was taken to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Lubbock Police reported Sunday afternoon that Mr. Garcia had died of his injuries.
The suspect’s vehicle was later located at the Family Dollar in the 4400 block of 34th Street. The suspect however, was not immediately located.
Elizondo was still booked in the Lubbock County Detention Center as of Sunday evening.
