Update: EverythingLubbock.com has learned the owners came forward after seeing this article. Turns out, the pug’s name is “Chewy.” The woman trying to connect the dog with his owners received an email from them. He has been reunited with his owners, who live in the neighborhood where the dog was found last week.

Original Story:

A woman who found a blind pug found at a Southwest Lubbock intersection is hoping to find the dog’s owner before he is sent to Austin.

The dog, dubbed “Seymour” by resident Sara Caswell, was spotted Wednesday at the intersection of 82nd Street and Chicago Avenue. Caswell said Seymour is not chipped and has no tags.

Caswell explained she took the pug to the 82nd Street Veterinary Clinic, where it was determined he is “completely blind and about 90% deaf.”

It is believed Seymour has some sort of eye condition.

“Due to the shape he’s in it’s hard to tell how old he is, but he’s definitely an old guy. He has the sweetest personality which makes me think he has a home somewhere but nobody has come forward yet,” Caswell said.

Caswell made plans to send the dog to Pug Rescue of Austin this week, but wanted to try to make contact with his owner before he was sent to the capital. She said the rescue trip was a “last resort,” after trying to find the owners on social media.

“He is considered ‘un adoptable’ for the most part and the happiness he experiences with people tells me he’s not ready to be put to sleep just yet,” Caswell explained.

“I had worked some extra days to save money to donate towards blankets and food for an animal shelter, but he came into my life and I knew it was the universe changing my plans,” she added.

“He needs the help just as badly as the rest of the others and so that’s what I’m trying to do,” Caswell said.

“I just want to reach out one more time before he makes his trip to Austin where he will spend his final days,” she stated.
