First responders were called to East 29th Street and Teak Avenue just after 8:00 a.m. Tuesday for the report of a pedestrian accident.  The location is near Ervin Elementary School.

The injuries were not reported to be life-threatening.  A photojournalist at the scene said a kindergarten student was running late, and so there were no crossing guards.  A car collided with the student at a low speed.

The photojournalist also said the driver was not cited.

Lubbock ISD issued a brief statement which said: “About  15 minutes after school began, a female kindergarten student at Ervin Elementary was hit by a car at 29th and Teak Ave. The child was transported to UMC by EMS where she is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The car stopped at a stop sign at the intersection and then proceeded to turn when the child entered the street and was struck.”

A second statement released by Lubbock ISD Tuesday afternoon said the student was in satisfactory condition and was expected to be released from the hospital.
