South Loop 289 frontage road repairs originally scheduled to begin today [Tuesday] have been rescheduled to start tomorrow, Wednesday, March 1, due to forecasted windy conditions.
Starting at 6:30 a.m., tomorrow [Wednesday] Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) maintenance crews will begin making road repairs to rutted areas at the Slide Road intersection.
To safely allow TxDOT crews to make the repairs, the westbound frontage road will be closed to traffic west of Slide. Additionally, the Slide Road exit on southbound Loop 289 will also be closed to traffic while work is being performed. Repairs at the Slide intersection will continue and be completed on Friday, March 3. (No work will take place on Thursday.) Drivers should expect lane closures on Friday, as well.
Crews will make repairs to the major intersections of University, Indiana and Quaker Avenues next week and motorists traveling the south Loop 289 frontage roads should anticipate various lane and intersection closures, turning restrictions and delays, and are advised to pay attention and slow down as they enter the work area for their safety and the safety of the workers. Work is scheduled to take place from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, daily; weather permitting.
A $6.6 million project to resurface the entire stretch of south Loop 289 frontage roads, from I-27 to just west of Slide Road is planned for this summer.
