The City of Amherst reported Sunday evening that water service has been restored to residents.
However, a boil water notice remains in place until further notice.
When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, city officials will notify residents that the water is safe for consumption.
The boil water notice was issued early Sunday afternoon following a water line break.
City Secretary Rosa Angel told EverythingLubbock.com that water samples are being sent to a lab for testing.
