Lubbock Police were called to the report of an robbery at the Stripes convenience store, 1601 19th Street Tuesday at about 5:30 p.m.
Police confirmed that a suspect was arrested on the scene. Police later identified him as Lealamon Deonte Smith, 25.
Police said the suspect threatened clerks at Stripes with a knife and stole a bag of potato chips.
Police said one officer arrived and tried to detain the suspect. When a second police officer arrived, the suspect was arrested.
Our reporter saw a member of the Homeless Outreach Team on scene. It was not immediately clear whether or not the suspect was homeless.
