Lubbock Police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead in Central Lubbock Tuesday evening. On Wednesday morning police publicly identified the man as Preston Prado, 18.
Officers responded to 32nd Street and University Avenue at 7:39 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a possible robbery in progress with shots fired.
LPD said Prado was found with a gunshot wound inside a residence, and was taken to University Medical Center where he later died.
LPD said Prado entered the home and was shot by the homeowner. It was not immediately clear what the relationship was between the shooter and the victim.
“Detectives are on scene and we’re trying to separate victims and other witnesses and figure out exactly what occurred,” said Lieutenant Leath McClure.
“The call sheet that the officers responded to advised that a person showed up to the residence, he was allowed inside, I don’t know if he forced his way at this point, but he was inside the residence, an altercation occurred. The subject who arrived at the residence was shot by the homeowner and was transported to the hospital,” McClure said.
