Upland Avenue Bridge Work Planned for This Week

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is scheduled to perform road closures along the Marsha Sharp Freeway (MSF) Phase 5B project limits Wednesday and Thursday (Aug. 31 and Sept. 1). The closure will give project contractor Webber, LLC the space needed to safely place bridge beams for the new Upland Avenue overpass.

Beginning at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Upland Avenue, at US 62/82 (MSF), will close to traffic. Northbound Upland traffic will be detoured around the work area via the eastbound MSF frontage road and southbound Upland drivers will be detoured to 82nd Street. The roadway will reopen from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. for the afternoon rush hour and then reclose at 6:30 p.m. to continue the work overnight. Upland will reopen at 6 a.m.

Then at 9 p.m., on Thursday, Upland will close again overnight to continue the bridge beam hanging operation. Traffic will be detoured around the area with the roadway reopening to traffic by 6 a.m. Friday morning.

The left-turn lanes on east- and westbound MSF, at the intersection, will be closed and used as a staging area both days. Drivers are urged to pay attention to signs and traffic signals during this time to ensure their safety and the safety of the workers.

The traffic closures and work will take place weather permitting.
