The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is scheduled to place bridge beams on the new bridges at US 84 in Slaton this week. The day-time beam hanging operation is scheduled to begin Friday and continue through Sunday, weather permitting.

Work is scheduled to begin 9 a.m., each day, and will require westbound US 84 traffic to come to occasional brief rolling stops to allow crews to safely move the bridge beams for placement. No other mainlane closures are anticipated but both east- and westbound US 84 drivers are advised to watch out for construction equipment entering the roadway.

No overnight work is planned.

The work is part of a $15 million project building a new US 84 mainlane bridge over the railroad crossing, located between County Roads 3500 and 3600. It will also add U-turns underneath the bridge to eliminate all at-grade railroad crossings.
