Future U.S. Marine candidates gathered at the Lubbock Police Department’s Academy Saturday morning to participate in an obstacle training course.

Staff Seargent Christopher Lucas told EverythingLubbock.com the candidates were out training for Officer Candidate School (OCS).

Lucas said the obstacle training course gave the candidates an idea of what to expect once they go to OCS this summer.

He said the majority of the candidates are from Texas Tech University, ranking from freshman to seniors. There are also some graduate students taking part in the training.

The candidates are being taught the ways of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Lucas said this program allows the candidates to “kill two birds with one stone.” They can go to college and and be a Marine at the same time.
