Venon ISD officials suspended three 8th grade girls for three days after they say they filmed themselves dancing in the locker room and posted it online.

The parents of the girls are alleging the school denied them the right to due process.

They have since filed a lawsuit that states: “this is a suit for injunctive relief from disciplinary action implemented by the school district in a manner that is inconsistent with state law and district policy.”

The parents were told that the students had “committed a state jail felony” for recording a 19-second video of themselves dancing on a mobile device.

The lawsuit notes the girls were fully clothed and were all willing participants in the recording.
